Research in coaching: it is no longer a luxury, it is essential

An article by Jonathan Passmore and myself in the South African magazine SA Coaching News (volume 1(11); 4-7) talks about how we need to undertake research into the effectiveness of coaching. The editors call the article 'somewhat controversial', which is a first for me! In it we draw the parallel with homeopathy, where there is no evidence base for its effectiveness, and argue that coaching needs to improve its evidence base. A similar German language translation appears as a blog in Coaching Magazin.
